Meet the Innkeepers
Your hosts at the Chollar Mansion Bed & Breakfast are Gena and Jeff Wood. Gena is originally from Northfield, Minnesota and Jeff is a native of Crivitz, Wisconsin. They met and married in 1983, while both stationed with the U. S. Navy in Keflavik, Iceland. After serving the nation for 25 years in various ship, squadron, and shore assignments, Jeff recently retired from the Navy and the couple chose to pursue Gena’s dream of owning and operating a bed & breakfast.
They chose the Chollar Mansion in Virginia City, Nevada for its exceptionally unique history and exciting B&B potential, purchasing the 1861 national historical treasure in 2004.
Gena is a skilled seamstress, painter, upholsterer, and chef, who delights in restoring antique furniture, decorating the rooms in period authentic style, and preparing delicious breakfast treats for our guests. She enjoys giving guests tours of the mansion, as well as the nearby Historic Fourth Ward School.
As an avid carpenter, plumber, electrician, and gardener, Jeff is truly enjoying the challenges of maintaining and restoring an historic building and its landscaping. He enjoys hiking, fishing and mountain biking, and will gladly take any adventurous guests on guided hikes of the many Comstock area trails and wilderness sights.
Gena and Jeff’s goal at the Chollar Mansion B&B is to provide our guests with a uniquely comfortable, rewarding, and historically educational lodging experience. We take pleasure in pampering our guests and strive to ensure that your stay with us is filled with the finest hospitality that can be found in Virginia City and all of Northern Nevada. |
