Elegant, Private Suite Accommodations

The Chollar Mansion B&B offers guests the charm of a western Victorian home in the heart of Nevada's Comstock. The mansion is furnished in period authentic Eastlake-style antiques from the 1860s through 1890s, as well as Art Deco furnishings from the 1930s. This decorating combination accurately and tastefully honors the periods of significant ownership by Billy Chollar, Isaac and Sarah Requa, and Jewell O'Connell.

Guests may stay in either the Requa Suite or the Clark Suite within the mansion, or the separate and secluded O'Connell Cottage, across the yard.

The Requa Suite, named in honor of Isaac and Sarah Requa, is on the second floor and features a charming, spacious bedroom with king-size bed, an elegant parlor decorated with late-1800s Eastlake furnishings, and a private bath with his & her sinks and a standing shower. The Requa Suite rents for $135.00 per night, double occupancy, year round.

The Clark Suite, honoring the famous Nevadan author Walter Van Tilburg Clark, is on the first floor, and features an airy, cheerful bedroom, also decorated in late-1800s Eastlake antiques with a king-size bed. It also features a private entrance, cozy parlor, and quaint window seat. The private bath includes a standing shower, six and a half foot porcelain claw-foot bathtub, and 140-year old, hand-hewn Ponderosa Pine walls. The Clark Suite rents for $135.00 per night, double occupancy, year round.

The O'Connell Cottage was originally built in 1870 as a playhouse for Isaac and Sarah Requa's son, Mark. Its 800 square feet features a quaint, romantic bedroom with queen-size bed, a parlor furnished in 1930's Art Deco antiques, a newly renovated private bath with standing shower and porcelain claw-foot bathtub. The cottage also features two twin day-beds, permitting accommodations for two additional adults or children at $35.00 per night, per person. The O'Connell Cottage rents for $135.00 per night, double occupancy, year round.

The Chollar Mansion boasts an authentic Men's Parlor, originally designed for hosting current and prospective investors of the Chollar Silver Mining Company. It is handsomely furnished in Eastlake style antiques, and offers guests privacy to enjoy reading, visiting, or playing board games. The original Women's Parlor and the third floor bedrooms now serve as the owner's private quarters. An expansive view of Six-Mile Canyon and the "Sugarloaf" Mountain can be seen from the back veranda and our Victorian dining room, which features comfortable seating for 10. In addition, the Chollar Mansion contains a 164 square foot underground stone vault, used to originally store gold and silver bullion. It is reportedly the largest mining vault in Virginia City.
